Why $199 and not $999
Because we only build for topsoil yards
A general web shop starts your project by learning your trade. What a yard is, why the delivery radius matters more than the logo, why "5 yards delivered to 49503" is the only search worth winning. You pay for that education, at their hourly rate, and you pay again for the parts they guess wrong.
We have already done it. We index every bulk supplier in the country, we know what buyers type and what makes them call rather than close the tab, and every site we build is the same job again. That is why it costs $199 instead of a few thousand — not because it is a lesser website, but because you are not funding the trial and error.
Questions
Before you decide
Is the free listing really free?
Yes, permanently. We list suppliers whether they pay us or not, because a directory is only useful to buyers if it is close to complete. We do not claim to have every yard in the country — no one does — so if yours is missing you can add it free.
What is the difference between claiming and the website?
Claiming gives you control of your page on Topsoil.com. The website tier gives you your own site, on your own domain, built from the same information — so you fill it in once and both stay current. If you already have a website you are happy with, claiming is all you need.
Do I need to supply content for the website?
No. It is built from what you have already put on your listing — your description, what you stock, delivery terms, hours and photos. Change it in the dashboard and the website changes with it. You can add a tagline, the towns you deliver to and your own color if you want to.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes, and you should. Point it at us and we serve your site from it with SSL included. Until then you get a working address straight away so nothing is waiting on a domain transfer.
What happens to my website if I cancel?
It stops serving and your domain redirects to your Topsoil.com listing, so links and business cards still reach you. Nothing is deleted — restart and it comes back as it was.
Are paid placements labelled?
Always. A directory that hides who paid stops being trustworthy, and an untrustworthy directory stops ranking.
Do paid listings get an SEO backlink?
No — and we would be doing you a disservice if we sold one. Every outbound link on Topsoil.com is tagged sponsored/nofollow, on every tier, because Google treats paid dofollow links as a link scheme and penalises both sides. What the paid link gives you is real referral traffic: people clicking through to your site from a page that already ranks.
Can I cancel?
Any time, on every tier. No contracts, no cancellation fees.
Do you still sell featured placement?
On request, in markets where it is worth it. It is priced by how many suppliers compete in your city, and we cap it at three slots so it keeps meaning something. Ask us and we will tell you honestly whether your city is competitive enough to bother.
Not sure which tier fits?
Tell us your city and we'll show you how many suppliers you're competing against, what your listing looks like today, and which tier actually moves the needle.
